1.WARNING

First of all, a little warning:

While QuiteInsane normally works (relatively :-) stable, it is still possible that there
may be problems with some scanners/backends.

QuiteInsane/SANE can damage your hardware.

One person has reported, that a preview scan in QuiteInsane made the sensor of his scanner hit the
scanbed. This happened with an Umax Astra 2200 and QuiteInsane version 0.1-prealpha-4.
The same problem has been reported for the Umax Astra 1220 and QuiteInsane version 0.2-alpha.
This was caused by a bug in the backend, which was triggered by a bug in QuiteInsane.
These problems should be solved in version 0.3-alpha and higher, however.

Please keep in mind, that some SANE backends are still in alpha state and therefore can
cause problems.
If you ever hear a loud noise during scanning, switch off your scanner immediatley !!
Please read the documentation shipping with SANE, too.

1.1. About QuiteInsane

QuiteInsane is a graphical frontend for SANE ("Scanner Access Now Easy"
see http://www.mostang.com/sane). The intention behind SANE is to provide
a standard application programming interface to access raster scanner hardware.
In theory, a graphical frontend like QuiteInsane should work with every
hardware supported by SANE. However, as mentioned above, there might still be
problems with some scanners.

Furthermore, QuiteInsane is designed for usage with scanners (flatbed/hand-held).
It has never been tested with other devices like cameras e.g.
QuiteInsane is published under the GNU General Public License (GPL). Please read the
file COPYING, which is included in the distribution.

1.2 Thanks
