 $ make

The script "debiandoc2docbookxml" translates a sgml file written according
to the debiandoc dtd to an xml file following the docbook-xml dtd
(docbook/dtd/xml/4.0/docbookx.dtd)

You need sgml2xml, part of package jade, and xsltproc, which is now a
package in itself.

The files are:
debiandoc-tidy
debiandoc2docbookxml
debiandoc.dtd
book.xml
split.xml
myprint.dsl
README
dd2xml.html.

How to use these scripts ?

You must first "normalize" the main sgml file and every file that it loads
(but not sgml files); you can do:
debiandoc-tidy [options] file.sgml
The main option, -e, sets the coding system if needed.

Now, you can choose the book element with the -b or --book option
or the article element with the -a or --article option.
When the main sgml file declares an internal subset of the dtd, you must
use the -s or --subset option on the command line:
"debiandoc2docbookxml -b -s file.sgml" gives you a file.xml that you can
print with jade and jadetex.

When you choose the -S or --split option, the script creates xml files from
each bookinfo, chapter and appendix.
When you have chosen the -l or --locale option (default=en),
"debiandoc2docbookxml -b -s -S -l fr /path/to/file.sgml"
gives you:
/path/to/main.fr.xml
/path/to/fr/children.fr.xml.

Some human polishing remains to be done to get a correctly printed text.
